WATERLOO, Ont. (February 1, 2012) - With Summer 2012 quickly approaching, registration for all of this years offerings of the Wilfrid Laurier Sports Camps is now open.
The Wilfrid Laurier Department of Athletics and Recreation has a wide variety of opportunities for children of all ages! From sport-specific camps run by Golden Hawks coaches and athletes to the highly-popular Golden Hawk Multi-Sport Camp, there is something for everyone this summer.
Returning for its 22nd season, the HIGH FIVE registered Golden Hawks Multi-Sport Camps allow younger children the opportunity to experience a wide-range of activities. Each week of the camp is themed and include sports and game instruction, dress-up days, day trips, special events and "Choose Your Own Adventure" programming.
For teenagers looking to improve their leadership skills, the Golden Hawk Leader-In-Training Program introduces the fundamentals of leaderships in the hopes that they may apply these skills to their everyday life and future aspirations. Each session includes two weeks where in week one, campers learn the basics of leadership before getting the chance to apply their skills in week two as a volunteer with the Multi-Sport Camps.
Aspiring sport stars have numerous camps to choose from this year. Whether your sport is basketball, hockey, soccer or football, we've got a camp for you!
Future hoops players will want to check out the Boys and Girls Basketball Camps, which are available for one week during the summer. Campers will participate in five action-packed days of basketball drills and competitions where they will improve their skills in a fun and challenging atmosphere.
For those young athletes who prefer the beautiful game, the Soccer School & Sports Camp will help children improve their technical skills in a positive, non-threatening environment.
The Golden Hawk Hockey School & Sports Camp is open to all hockey players who are looking to improve their skills. From power skating to individual and team tactics, Laurier coaches and players will provide children with a wonderful learning experience.
The Laurier Female Hockey Camp, which is run by players and coaches of one of the top university programs in the country, will provide young girls with 15 hours of on-ice instruction from outstanding role models.
Those athletes who prefer to compete on the gridiron will thoroughly enjoy the Golden Hawk Football Camp. Run over a two-day period, future university players will be given the opportunity to hone their skills while coaches by top university level coaches and current Canadian Football League players.?
New this season to the sport offerings is the Golden Hawk Lineman Camp, which is run in conjunction with the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks Spring Camp. Offensive and Defensive Lineman will hone their skills in the trenches with some of the top coaches in the province.
